Like much of Africa, there is a strong, if somewhat hidden, tradition of wrestling in Kenya. This video shows how one community is looking to change the sport from sideshow held only at festivals to a competitive sport, honoring their ancestry while trying to provide entertainment and revenue. East African Wrestling Entertainment is at the forefront, but with more exposure there are sure to be competing promotions which will create interest at the youth level. It’s a good thing.
